Spanish freelancers can finally claim unemployment

As of November 2010, freelancers (autónomos) in Spain may apply for unemployment benefits that may last up to a maximum of 12 months, which will equate them a bit more with other employed workers. Freelancers can voluntarily choose to pay an additional percentage on their Social Security contribution, which then qualifies them for unemployment benefits.
